[version française] [versión espola]

A selection of photographs of some specimens of the kings and queens of the andean sky.

Males feathers are black and white, females plumages are brown. Older specimens have a wattle above their heads while younger don't. Males skin is couloured while females one often lack of shades.

During the last century, with a special acceleration during its last decades in some sectors of Patagonia, lives of these majestic wild birds have been changed significantly. Their diets, their tranquilities (due to an increased number of nuisances, factors of stress, the invasions of their living/nesting/breeding environments), etc.. Eventhough in some areas they just feel obviously much more stress, fortunately it's still possible to get close to them, if you're lucky enough to spot one or know where to find some and how to approach them (peacefully).
